Our Services

Initial Visit: $60 The initial consult is composed of two parts. The first part is the consultation itself, and the second is a ‘report of findings’. Please note that we typically do not perform acupuncture or prescribe herbs until after the report of findings, although exceptions can be made for those experiencing acute, severe symptoms.

Initial Consult: The consult can take up to an hour, and consists of discussing your reasons for seeking care, taking a thorough history and pulse and tongue examinations. Before this first visit we ask that you complete our intake form, which can be downloaded from….

Report of Findings: At the end of the initial consult we schedule a time for a report of findings. This is where we present the information we found during the consultation, discuss if Chinese medicine could be helpful for you, and if so lay out a treatment plan that may include acupuncture, herbal care, and diet and lifestyle recommendations.

Progress Exams: $30 We schedule these a regular intervals during your care.  They are an opportunity to touch base, chart your progress, address any new concerns and generally make sure we are on the same page.

Acupuncture: $40

Service FAQ

What do you mean by Community Acupuncture?

In our practice, we use recliners spread around a large, quiet room where individual treatments occur with a number of other people receiving acupuncture nearby.

Is the ‘Community’ model new?

This is a new phenomenae in North America, but this is the way that acupuncture has been practiced throughout Asia for centuries. In the West, this model took root in Portland, Oregon and has begun to spread around North America and Europe.

What about my privacy?
  1. While treatments are conducted in a group setting, all consultations and progress exams are done in a private room to respect your privacy.
  2. Acupuncture does not require you to disrobe. Many of the most effective points are located on the limbs or in areas that can be accessed with the clothes on.  We do encourage you to wear loose fitting clothing or bring a change with you. There will be a room provided for you to change.

What makes us different:

At the Cross Currents clinic we provide high quality acupuncture and Chinese medical care.   Our innovative clinic provides acupuncture treatments in a group setting – the way that it is done throughout Asia. This allows us to offer surprisingly reasonable fees to break down the financial barrier to receiving acupuncture.

We have fashioned our style of practice after the way acupuncture has been practiced in Asia for centuries.   Most acupuncture treatments are provided in recliners spread around a large, comfortable room where others are receiving treatments nearby.

Treating most conditions with acupuncture does not require you to disrobe, as many of the most effective points are located on the limbs or in areas that can be accessed with the clothes on.  You are encouraged to wear loose fitting clothing or bring a change with you – there will be a room provided for you to change.

Aside from allowing us to offer lower fees, receiving acupuncture in a group setting has many benefits. It makes it convenient for friends and family to come for appointments together, and makes it much easier to get the appointment times that work best for you. Each member of the group contributes to the energy in the room, and this group energy helps facilitate everyone’s healing.

Fee Schedule:

Ask any acupuncturist – the simple fact is that acupuncture works best when treatments happen frequently for a period of time.  The purpose of our lower fees (about half the going rate in Calgary!) is to reduce the issue of money when considering treatment. We want clients to be able to come in frequently and on a regular basis to get better and stay that way.

We are not providing a second rate version of what people are experiencing by paying a higher fee. We are simply using a model that allows us to make acupuncture treatments more accessible to a broader range of the population.

  • Intitial Consultation $60.00
  • Progress Exams $30.00
  • Acupuncture $40.00

Herbal Products are individually priced.

  1. Prepay for 5 acupuncture sessions and receive a 5% discount on each – $190.00
  2. Prepay for 10 acupuncture sessions and receive a 10% discount on each – $360.00
